Postmortem Reveals Poison in Mid-day Meal

The postmortem report on the children died of poisoned Mid-day Meal in Bihar revealed insecticide is mixed either with the food served or in the cooking oil used for the preparation of food. Bihar police found cans of insecticide in the house of the Head Mistress Meena Kumari kept along with the stocks of pulses, rice and vegetables.

The students refused to eat food served today in the Dharmasthati Gandaman Primary School in Gandaman Village, Saran District Bihar where 60 children are sick and 23 died due to poison. The Headmistress is absconding that slowed down the investigation. Police have so far not made any arrests.

Human Resources and Development Minister MM Pallam Raju called the incident as unfortunate and said today that the scheme should be implemented with proper care.
