A three storied building collapsed in Rajahmundry at about 11.45 pm on Wednesday. The building was situated in Nalam Bhimaraju Street near main road of the town.
As per the locals’ statements, the building was constructed 10 years ago. A general kirana shop on the ground floor and a family residing on the top floor was the only occupation at the time of the unfortunate incident. One person is dead and five persons including children are caught under the debris.
Locals say that the adjoining excavations going on for a multi storey building is the cause of collapse as the building is not that old for that.
