Nanadamuri Harikrishna broke his silence and explained to the media that his resignation as MP is for a United AP. He noted that his Late father NTR's wishes to see Telugu people united is the reason behind his decision to resign from Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Kurien has accepted Harikrishna's resignation, which drew considerable media attention, in light of the ongoing Seemandhra agitation as well as the Nanadamuri family rift.
Harikrishna vehemently expressed that the Congress party is only taking up the bifurcation with an eye on the upcoming general election. The party wants to make Rahul Gandhi a Prime Minister, he said, adding that their decision is only meant to take advantage of the Telangana issue.
The congress party has no right to split the state, he stated, saying that the party now needs to bring peace to the state as it is solely responsible for the chaos. Harikrishna wants equal justice to all regions of Andhra Pradesh and said that he would continue to strive for his father's ambitions to keep the state united.
Harikrishna did not reveal much about the inside details of his rift with brother Balakrishna, saying that there is no rift with family members and that he still belongs to TDP.
