Jagan Fasting in Jail Under Review

YSRCP President YS Jagan who started fasting from Chanchalguda jail where he is in the Judicial Custody in the case of disproportionate assests charged by CBI became a point to discuss in political circles.

Jagan started hunger strike on Sunday morning protesting the political injustice in the State on which many political leaders commented in a different manner.

When the Indefinite hunger strike is not allowed outside a jail as it amounts to an attempt for committing suicide, how a person in jail with more restrictions than a free person in the society is the question raised by many.  Some suggested that Jagan may be shifted to Seemandhra and some suggested that he should be sent to Tihar jail in Delhi and some supported his hunger strike.

But the jail authorities have not confirmed the knowledge of hunger strike taken up by Jagan. They said although it is on the record that he has not taken food from Sunday morning, it is not intimated by Jagan that he was on hunger strike.

Jail Authorities are now reviewing the situation.  In the absence of the declaration that it is a hunger strike, the authorities are not in a position to decide their plan of action.  Prisoners are to take permission of the Jail authorities when they protest but as the protest is not declared by Jagan, it cannot be construed that he is on strike.

They are also trying to foil the attempt of strike by administering medical tests.  The authorities assure that the treatment will be like that of other prisoners in the jail but no VIP treatment will be given in respect of the hunger strike taken up that is not yet confided with the jail authorities.

As today is the last day of judicial remand in disproportionate assets case, he will be tried by CBI special Court through video conference.
