Petrol rate is reduced by Rs.1.15 per liter effective from 1st November. After adding VAT and local taxes, the rate of petrol per liter is down by Rs.1.51 per liter at Hyderabad.
But the rate of diesel is up by Rs.0.50 as an adjustment of the diesel hike differed to number of months to add Rs.0.50 every month. After local taxes and VAT the hike of diesel at Hyderabad went up by Rs.0.62.
In fact a raise of Rs.5/- per liter was suggested by the Government panel so that the burden of subsidy will be reduced on the Government. But with the sign of State elections ahead and also as the inflation rate his high enough not to think of such a raise in the diesel rates by the Government. As per the panel, a raise of Rs.5/- per liter on diesel will reduce the burden of the subsidy by 400 billion rupees.
But, the head of the Government Panel Kirit Parikh says that it may not be possible right now to increase prices as suggested in the report.
