Fire was detected in time in one of the store rooms of the Space Center at Sriharikota. Smoke emitting store room was found by the Central Industrial Security Forces in which solid propellant rocket motors are manufactured.
The damage occurred in the store room is being used for storing the equipment by the Hyderabad based Premier Explosives Ltd. As the smoke alarmed the security personnel, it was controlled in time so that it did not reach other store rooms.
The rocket motors are used by ISRO in launch vehicles to fire them to make the launcher take off and to take necessary diversions. The cost of the damage is estimated as Rs.1.5 crores.
