Intelligence grid to control black money

The Election Commission [EC] has created a multi-agency grid of revenue and security intelligence agencies to curb use of black money in the upcoming general elections. This is first of its kind step taken by the EC and the agencies that were roped for this job are income tax intelligence and investigations, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, Narcotics Control Bureau and the snoop wings of border guarding forces of SSB and BSF and those of CISF and the Railway Protection Force.

Any cash beyond Rs 50,000 could be subjected to scrutiny by EC nominated flying squads however EC has eased its norms and directives on cash transportation as many complaints of harassment were received. Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) cell will closely monitor all the expenses of a candidate in the elections.

Overall EC looks to be very serious in curbing blackmoney. Will this show good results, we have to and see.
