Aam Aadmi Party [AAP] leader Shazia Ilmi has landed into a controversy and was caught in a video asking Muslims to be communal.
“Please do not be so secular. Muslims are secular. They will continue to vote for others. Other parties don't do such things,” said the AAP leader who contested the Lok Sabha polls from Ghaziabad.
The video is believed to be shot in Mumbai and apparently a sting operation where Ilmi had gone for campaigning in South Mumbai.
Ilmi defended her statements while talking to a new channel. She also posted in her Twitter account that the whole context of her statement was misunderstood. “Well someone was accusing muslims of being communal. I think muslims keep voting for cong which uses them as vote bank. Its like misquoting Arvind's quote on being an anarchist. The context was contextually removed and just' I'm an anarchist was played out',” posted Ilmi.
