After day long battle the militant forces took control over the Qaim border of Syria in which 30 Iraqi troops were killed.
It is another blow to the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki Government that has been fighting hard to push back the Islam extremists backed by Al Queda terrorists group. Quaim is situated at 320 km West of Baghdad. As the border is captured it became a point of free movement for the attackers to and fro Iraq and Syria with weapons now.
The Iraqi PM is blamed that he is responsible for current situation as he is responsible for US troops to withdraw from the country in 2011.
Although Nouri Al Maliki won with a good majority in the elections held in April, his retaining position is doubtful now because of the consistent gain of Iraqi land by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Although US President Obama did not ask Al Maliki to resign, he suggested it with his guarded words saying, “Only leaders that can govern with an inclusive agenda are going to be able to truly bring the Iraqi people together and help them through this crisis.” He announced on Thursday that he was deploying 300 military advisers to help Iraq to quell insurgency. They only join the 275 troops in and around Iraq to provide security to US Embassy and other American centers.
Obama did not accept the request of Al Maliki to airstrike the insurgents. But manned and unmanned fighter planes are hovering over Iraq to strike if the situation warrants.
