The Central government has reaffirmed that the Governor of both the Telugu states will look after the Law and Order in the joint capital Hyderabad. Adding the government claimed that special powers to Governor is part of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill, 2013 and now it is considering to set-up Joint Policing System which will be head by Governor while Andhra and Telangana DGPs will be members. Accordingly the government has appointed two advisors to Governor too.
However, the ruling party in Telangana, TRS is bluntly opposing the Central government's move. Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy accused the Central government of conspiring against Telangana government and said they will fight against any move to take the powers of Hyderabad. The TRS government has already written to the Central government opposing special powers to Governor however the AP government is insisting on this.
Centre is also in dilemma whether to move ahead in this issue or not and also did not reveal when Governor would take over the Law and Order into his custody. Nonetheless, it opined that as per the reorganization bill, Law and Order of Hyderabad will come under Governor.
