The prestigious Hyderabad Metro will undergo no changes as per the latest reports informed by L & T Metro Rail MD Vivek B Gadgil. In an exclusive interview to a Telugu daily, Vivek has asserted that the metro will start its functions by next Ugadi festival. “We haven't got any suggestions from the government or Hyderabad Metro authority, so as per our plans, we are going ahead with the project. We are confident of starting Nagole-Mettuguda route from Ugadi next year,” said Vivek.
Coming to the budget of metro rail, Vivek has said that so far Rs 4,360 crores has been spent and when asked if the cost may get a hike, Vivek added that depending upon the situation, bank loan facilities, the budget of metro rail will go up. Till date, metro rail got little bit expensive by Rs 800 crores. Meanwhile the trail run is expected to be conducted in the last week of August and other routes like Miyapur-SRnagar is also nearing the completion.
Telangana CM KCR has announced in Assembly that Metro Rail should undergo changes in routes like Assembly, Mozamjahi Market but ironically it has not send any suggestions to the authorities. Seems like KCR has gone back on his words and there has been reports that the cost would go up by Rs 500-600 crores if underground route is assigned.
