Metro project advisor E Sreedharan said metro at Vizag and Vijayawada will be made simultaneously. The former Delhi metro chief visited the proposal site of Vizag metro this morning and briefed the media. “In next six months, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the government regarding the Vizag metro and will propose to complete it in 3 or 4 years of time. In the first phase, 30 kms corridor will be made and the metro will be aerial as well as underground in Vizag,” added Sreedharan.

However, it would be a huge task to work simultaneously at Vizag and Vijayawada and the budget would be a constrain but Sreedharan said, the metro authority will bear the entire budget for metro and it won't be a burden to the AP government. Sreedharan did not reveal much information about metro project in Tirupathi. The estimated cost of each metro project would be around Rs 5000 crores.

During the AP budget sessions, CM Chandrababu Naidu has promised to bring metro to Vijayawada, Vizag and Tirupathi and also make this three cites mega smart cities. Vijayawada will have a slight edge as it was declared as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. AP CM also vowed to make Vizag as hardwar hub and Tirupathi as knowledge hub.
