'Jihadi John' is dead, ISIS confirms

Yesterday, a media outlet associated with ISIS released a eulogy for ‘Jihadi John’, a member of the militant group who gained notoriety for his filmed execution of hostages, the monitoring organization SITE reported.

The militant was identified as Mohammed Emwazi, a British citizen of Arab origin. The US military said in November it was "reasonably certain" it had killed him in a drone strike.

In Islamic State's Dabiq magazine, Emwazi was described by his nickname "Abu Muharib al-Muhajir".

The magazine reads, “On Thursday, the 29th of Muharram, 1437 (November 12, 2015), Ab Muhrib finally achieved shahdah (martyrdom) for the cause of Allah, which he had sought for so long, as the car he was in was targeted in a strike by an unmanned drone in the city of Raqqah, destroying the car and killing him instantly.”

In the Islamic state, Emwazi became a public face and symbol of brutality, after he was spotted in the videos, showing the murders of US journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, US aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto and other hostages, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning.

In the videos, Emrazi was dressed in black,  a balaclava covering all but his eyes and the bridge of his nose, Emwazi became one of the world's most wanted men.

Emwazi was born in 1988, in Kuwait and was taken to Britain by his family, when he was 6 years old and in London, he completed his graduation in computer programming.

According to US officials, the US-British missile strike has believed to made all the preparations, months back to kill him and finally could accomplish their task, last November, as two US MQ-9 Reaper drones and one British MQ-9 cruised above the Syrian town of Raqqa.
