50% Drop In H-1B Filings From Indians:- With the stringent immigration rules imposed after American President Donald Trump took charge, the number of H-1B petitions filed witnessed huge dropdown. With the tough environment created, Indian IT companies reached all time low when compared to the previous years. The H-1B filings started on April 2nd and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will conclude after they receive enough set of applications. As many as 65000 visas can be issued every year.
Scott FitzGerald, partner in US immigration firm Fragomen Worldwide confirmed that the number of applications filed by Indian companies have been quite low. With the increasing stringency in the process of H-1B filings, most of the Indian companies have not been showing interest in USA. With the officers demanding detailed documentation and huge chances of rejection, Indian companies have not filed many H-1B requests. Indian IT companies managed to occupy the lion's share in H-1B Visas from the past few years. There are even talks that several Indian companies have established development centres in USA to grab the local talent for their requirement.
