First In India: Hyderabad Airport To Get Face Recognition Facility:- Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) will soon get face recognition facility which is the first of its kind in the country. All the passengers can pass the security checks by simply looking into the camera. This facility is expected to start by the end of this year. The process starts with a one time registration at the entry gate. All the details of the passenger gets captured through hi-tech cameras that turns out to the signature for the passenger.
The next time the passenger is at the airport, he just needs to look into the camera and there is no need to show his boarding pass or the identity card. Once the camera gets his identity, the passenger can pass through the security checks. During the other security checks too, the passenger will have to look through the camera to get his credentials verified. According to GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), the airport uses automated system that will verify the credentials of the passenger with the help of Airline Departure Control System along with the face of the passenger on the ticket. The boarding pass is integrated into the system. The regulatory authorities will have to approve the process after which Face Recognition Facility will be introduced in Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
