Cyclone Gulab Makes Landfall, Heavy Rains Predicted:- Hundreds of people have been evacuated after the cyclonic storm Gulad made landfall at 20km from the north of Kalingapatnam on Sunday evening. There has been heavy downpour all over after the landfall of the cyclone Gulab. A fisherman from Andhra Pradesh passed away last evening. Several trees were uprooted and electric poles across the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh got damaged. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will witness heavy rainfall today. All the coastal villages are evacuated and several trains got canceled for today. The storm is moving towards the northwestern part and it will weaken today. Apart from AP and Telangana, huge rainfall is expected in Odisha.
The experts from the Meteorological Department said that heavy to very heavy rains are expected in most of the parts of Telangana for three days. The government of Odisha evacuated more than a lakh people from the southern districts of the state. Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of the state is on an official visit to New Delhi is monitoring the situation. Several villages in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram are flooded because of the heavy downpour. The district of Vishakapatnam too received huge rainfall. National Disaster Response Force is taking care of the rescue operations. The storm had a wind speed of 95 kmph. 85000 families from Andhra Pradesh are moved to temporary relief shelters from the low-lying regions.
