This is what I presume about the actor turned politician Chiranjeevi, Konidala Siva Sankara Vara Prasad on his birth day today (August 22). Chiru as he is popularly called as is the name that dispels all around exuberance of discipline, dedication and determination. Unlike many celebrities of the day, Chiru was a self-made man and has set standards for the later generations. He is synonymous to the vogue that set your eyes on the stars and reach there while shining bright like the pole star.

Chiru has drawn strengths from his failures and climbed on the success ladder undeterred. Hard work, vision and discipline with an aptitude to learn from mistakes has made this actor turned politician a successful personality globally.

At this moment I remember a personal encounter with the star some time, or rather years back, when 'Abhilasha' was released. Then Chiru sir was living in Giri road on the first floor in Chennai, and he had lesser leader worship. Chiru sir was driving his White Premier Padmini (Fiat), probably on his way back from shooting with a white chudidhar type dress on, near the Valluvar Kottam signal. Just then myself and my close friend, late Gollapudi Srinivas were talking to our Tamil friends opposite Vidyodaya school. Suddenly his car zoomed past us. Srinivas, immediately told me that Chiru Sir was driving his car and if I can, I should race past him. Immediately with him behind me, I sped on my bullet to catch past a glimpse of the Megastar, the race was just few seconds as his house was just a hands throw from the junction.

Finally we caught up with the Megastar who was watching us through his rear view mirror. Just before his house we could get past him and he waved at us. Then we took a u-turn and turned back, by this time Chiru Sir had parked his car in his home and came back to latch the gate.

The moment he saw us he smiled and asked us to come in. He took us into his lavish drawing room and called, 'Baby give us some tea!'. Tea was given to us by his wife and that was tasted better than nectar. And he very passionately asked me how are you? Still in awestruck fantasy, I replied, I am fine sir, and slowly tried to ask him back. He smiled. Then he questioned my friend who was the son of a renowned writer and appreciated him of his fathers role in 'Idhi Pelantara'.

The dream was prevailing on me till he gave us a warm send off till the gate below. I came back into reality after starting my bike. Then is chided my friend and asked him why the hell he did not introduce me to the great star of our dreams. He instantly replied in surprise, 'idiot, I thought he knew you and that is the reason he first inquired about you.' then I recalled the incident and realized that as my friend remarked that scene looked exactly like that.

The reason for me to remember this wonderful moment on his birthday is to tell you friends that in his presence nobody feels, like with a stranger. Such is the greatness of this man who lives as a ray of light in the hearts of millions like us. Great men and greater obedience as my teachers,  used to say. Though later I met him in preview theaters  and shooting spots while accompanying Srinivas, this first encounter with Megastar left an everlasting impression on me.
