McDonald's plans to open more vegetarian outlets

After basking in the success of the vegetarian outlet at Amritsar, the US food retail chain restaurant, Mc Donald's has made plans to establish newer vegetarian restaurants at Katra near the holy shrine in Vaishno Devi cave in Jammu and Kashmir. The leader in the food retailing industry eyes India as a great destination for many more vegetarian restaurants all over the nation soon.

The present menu of Mc D in India has an equal share of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The most popular vegetarian item has been Mc Aloo Tikki burger priced only at Rs 28 while the Maharaja Mac is the most popular non-vegetarian item sold.

India is still a small market for Mc D for the population which stands at 1.2 billion but it holds a lot of promise for the American food retailer. They have over half a million customers per day in the 271 restaurants every day while over 50 million people walk into the McD for food everyday all over the world with over 33,000 restaurants in the world.
"When you look at the potential of the country, it's one of the top priority countries and we're laying the groundwork for capturing the market," said an official from Mc Donald's

"We plan to nearly double the number of outlets to 500 plus within the next three years," he said.
