Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications is the biggest loser in the Mobile Number Portability [MNP] that was introduced in the country couple of years back. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in Parliament that over 10 crores people out of the 91 crore subscribers used MNP service in which Reliance Communications is the biggest loser while Idea Cellular is the biggest gainer.
As per the government stats, Reliance Communications lost 61.5 lakh customers as over 1.4 crore subscribers left the network and only 79.4 lakh joined it. In case of Idea Cellular, 2.46 crores subscribers joined the network while 1.51 crore mobile subscribers switched the network. Vodafone topped second in the gainers list while Airtel stood at third. Vodafone registered more transactions with 1.96 crores users shifting and 2.71crores joined it.
State run Telecom companies BSNL and MTNL also lost customers in reasonable number.
