The Karnataka State Pre-University Lecturer's Association has decided to observe September 5th, Teachers Day, as a black day to pressurizing the authorities to fulfill their demands.

Talking to the journalists on Saturday, the president of the association Thimmaiah Purle had mentioned that all the members had already written an open letter to the Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri

According to the demands, the PU lecturer's asked for a pay that is on par with the payment being received by the lecturers of the degree colleges who are currently under the UGC pay scale. They wanted to be promoted to the degree colleges if they had PhDs and M. Phil. They also asked for recognition of services of contract lecturers and special incentives for principals and those who were recruited in 2009

He mentioned that their demands were ignored in the earlier protests staged and that they would go on a protest that would be held at the Freedom Park on Teachers Day. The association members are expecting not assurances but that their promises would be put to action.
Their earlier boycott for the evaluation last year had delayed the Common Entrance Test.
