Say no to excess intake of calcium: Study

A new study has said that excess intake of calcium can cost you dearly. The risk of heart attacks will be more among those who take too much calcium in their daily diet. The study conducted on 23, 980 persons aged between 35-64 at German Cancer Research Foundation has found out that 86 per cent of people have complaints of heart attack and all of them took more than sufficient levels of calcium.

When the study was going on 354 participants suffered heart attack while 260 people had heart stroke. In fact, the deaths occurred during the study were 267.  These findings came is putting many medicos in shock as it is known that many orthopedic doctors recommended large intake of calcium to keep bones stronger although a few doctors earlier stated that taking large amounts of calcium leads to development of stones in the kidney besides creating other intestinal problems.

This study was publishes in a journal named Heart. Now that the scientists said excessive calcium is dangerous, people might stop taking calcium tablets just like that without any prescription.   (Phani)
