According to a review published on Wednesday older adults suffering from diabetes are between 50 and 80 per cent apparently destined to have a disability compared to people without the disease. Researchers at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia searched beyond 3,200 previously published studies that discovered the link between diabetes and disability. Furthermore, they limited in range the catch down to 26 studies that compared like accompanying like. In the majority of instances of the people in these studies were aged over 65, an age category in which Type-2 diabetes, also called adult onset diabetes predominates.
