Explanation of the verse

Lord Krishna says that concentrating and meditating on me is the only solution to solve one’s problems. How should one meditate? One should meditate by controlling the senses. The senses due to their constant craving for pleasure are extremely troublesome to govern.Lord says, to make Him the sole object of one’s meditation and thus become established in undisturbed serenity in the ultimate reality. When the senses are control one can easily enjoy the sublime of life. When one concentrates and meditate on Lord Sri Krishna, he forgets his worries and come to understand about life and its aims.

Knowing, accepting and understanding Lord Sri Krishna will makes one’s life meaningful. In the latter verses Lord says, Sarva dharma parityagya mam ekam saranam vraja, means, leave all the religions and surrender unto me, I am the only caretaker, Only I can help you to overcome your difficulties. I am the ultimate truth, I am the one responsible for everything, I am the owner of everything. This statement by the Lord makes it crystal clear that Lord Sri Krishna is the supreme lord the para Brahman.

The message is clear in this verse, when Lord says mat-parah. One has to constantly keep relationship with him, so that prayana kale, means at the end of life, one can attain salvation by thinking of him at the time of death. This is possible only if one can control his senses and concentrate and meditate on Lord at all time and it has to become routine.

It is said in Srimad Bhagavatam that even if one recites one of the Lord’s numerous names, he can attain salvation. Srimad Bhagavatham gives the example t\with the story of Ajamilan. One should know that the material pleasure are short term, while the pleasure attained through concentration and meditation on Lord can enlighten the dominant self inside every living being. Lord Sri Krishna is the ultimate creator, maintainer and destroyer of the universe, hence surrendering unto him will pave the path of salvation and liberation from the attachment of birth and rebirth.
