Shikhar Dhawan reported for suspect bowling action

Shikhar Dhawan has been reported for suspect bowling action, in the 4th innings of the final test against South Africa, held on last Monday.

After the Indians had set a target of 481 runs, the South Africans struggled throughout and finally put an end, scoring 337 runs.

On 4th day evening, Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, were offered to bowl, but none of them could break the stubborn stand between Amla and de Villiers.

Dhawan totally bowled three overs in his spell, in which one is maiden, he gave 9 runs without any success. On the fifth and also the final day, Dhawan was not given any chance to bowl.

Regarding Dhawan’s suspect bowling action, the International Cricket Council (ICC) even informed in a release stating, “India’s Shikhar Dhawan has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the fourth Test against South Africa, which the host won in New Delhi on Monday. The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the India team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 30-year-old’s off-spin deliveries.”

Not stopping there, the release further stated, “Dhawan’s bowling action will now be scrutinized further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Dhawan is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.”
