Koneru Humpy Wins World Women's Rapid Chess Championship:- Indian woman grandmaster Koneru Humpy has been named as the Champion of World Women's Rapid Chess Championship which took place in Moscow. She battled with Lei Tingjie from China and ended up as the winner. The championship is played under rapid time controls. Each player gets less time to consider their moves and they are not like regular tournaments. The tournament was held by FIDE, an international organization that connects several chess federations.

Koneru Humpy made a super comeback and ended up winning the title. She won the game in the 12th round. Koneru Humpy is the second Indian to win the rapid gold after Vishwanathan Anand. Koneru Humpy hails from Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh and the world's youngest chess champion in the world after she made her debut in 2002 at the age of 15 years. Koneru Humpy called the victory unexpected and she reminded about the years she lost the competition. Humpy lost the first tie-break game, and then won the second to reach the Armageddon.
