Veteran Actor of T – Town, Akkineni Nageswara Rao will be honoured with a Doctorate by GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, soon.
Nageswara Rao started his career in the year 1941 with the movie ’Dharmapatni’. For more than 6 decades, he is one such Hero who has ruled the Telugu Cinema, with his versatile performance as an Actor who can emote all forms of emotions. Till date, he is one such Actor, who is looked upon in Telugu Cinema. Many of his family members and his son Akkineni Nagarjuna are ruling the Industry today. Many categorize ANR as one of the Super Stars of South Indian Cinema, equivalent to that of Amitabh Bacchan and Shivaji Ganeshan in B – Town and K – Town, respectively.
In the year 1957, governor of Uttar Pradesh Gopal Reddy has conferred him ‘Nata Samrat’ award in Vijayawada. This was his first award he received and after that he continued to impress cinema world and is receiving awards till now. Success is always there for him. He was awarded ‘Padma Shri’ in the year 1963, ‘Padmabhushan’ in the year 1982, ‘Dada Saheb Phalke’ in year 1991, ‘Anna’ award by TN government in the 1995 and ‘Padmavibhushan’ the year 2011 by Government of India. He even conferred a doctorate in the year 1977 by Andhra University which titled him ’Kala Prapoorna’.
Well, as far as awarding this legend with a Doctorate by GITAM University concerned, the date on when this ceremony would take place, is not yet decided.
