Heard those old songs when TM Soundarajan used to sing and Kannadasan used to pen them for Sivaji or MGR! Wow! one man to be remembered, who remains of this rich legacy of Kollywood, is Manayangath Subramanian Viswanathan. Confused don't worry he is none other than M S Viswanthan or MSV. The renowned name in the music world remembered by many music composers coming from three generations. The next generations of composers were Ilayaraja and Gangai Amaran. Then later came in Shankar -Ganesh and A R Rehman. Then the latest is Yuvan Shankar Raja and Vijay Anthony likes. Inspite of three generations of composers on the job, the veteran has lost no spirits and is as young, as his first day, even today. It is a known fact, that was mentioned in these same columns that his originally music composed superstar film, Thillu Mullu is being redone with Shiva in the lead . For this film again the stalwart is getting associated with the latest craze Yuvan Shankar Raja to do the music and respell the same magic that he cast few years back.
On this Onam day, the Palaghat (iyer) composer would be felicitated by the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in Chennai. The 'Mellisai Mannar' (in Tamil Emperor of Melodies) as he is popularly known, is felicitated by the Jaya TV during the evening.
MSV in combo with another music director Ramamurthy, popularly known as Viswanathan-Ramamurthy, have composed music in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films. The duo were instant success and won a million hearts even to this day.
Wishesh wishes the master of masters MSV, good health to give more melodies, to keep us all rejuvenated-to take up this life, filled with challenges. Sir only you could grant us this boon. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
