Veteran Bollywood Actor Om Puri is No More!

Bollywood Veteran actor Om Puri is no more. The actor passed away at the age of 66 on Friday morning after suffering a major heart attack at his residence in Mumbai.

According to the actor’s driver, Om Puri returned from shooting last evening. When his driver rang the door bell of his residence, he did not answer. That is when the driver raised an alarm.

Confirming the news, filmmaker Ashok Pandit who is also a close friend of Puri said, “Omji suffered a massive heart attack in the morning today. We have just reached his residence.”

He also took to Twitter to share the news, “Sad & shocked to know that versatile actor Om Puri jee has expired due to the heart attack early morning today. #RIP.”

As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi got to know about this news, he gave his condolence on Twitter.

Om Puri was born on 18 October 1950. He made his first debut in the year 1976 in a Marathi film, 'Ghashiram Kotwal'.

The actor has worked in Bollywood cinema as well as Pakistani, British and Hollywood films. The actor also received an OBE as well as Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India.

The critically acclaimed actor was one of the prominent names of  Indian cinema in the 1980s. He has won National Award two times. He was also honoured with the Padmashri in 1990.
