Make your skin shine to 5 ways

Luminous skin isn't just for super stars and spa addicts - it's for you, too! If you're tired of fighting blah, dull skin you can correct it. Don't settle for anything less than soft skin with a touch of healthy shine. Take the battle down to the cellular level and get beautiful results from the inside out. These five tips will get you started on your quest for shiny, sexy skin. Your new skin look may not appear overnight but regular applications of these five steps will make a gorgeous improvement.

Steam treatments: Get steamed regularly for beautiful skin. After a gentle cleansing treatment to your face, fill the bathroom or kitchen sink with steaming water. Careful- hot water isn't meant to be touched. Sprinkle a drop or two of a soothing essential oil into the water. Try lavender, vanilla or chamomile. Place a towel over your head and breath in deep breaths of steam. Your pores will open and you'll sweat a little, but that's a good thing. Weekly steam treatments purges the skin and makes it shine.

If you live in a dry area, or have dry conditions in your home, try a humidifier. Fill a clean humidifier with fresh water, then run it as you rest. You'll wake up with luminous, nourished skin.

Light reflectors: Today's beauty science has come a long way from pancake makeup and cold cream. Light reflecting makeup and lotions help create skin radiance. Tiny reflective beads in these products make the skin look fresh.

Natural shades: If you want to make your skin shine, you'll need to lay those crazy colors aside. I love deep blue eyeshadow as much as the next girl, but when I want luminosity quick, I go natural. Sweep on eye shadows that match the tones of your skin. Go bare with the lip color by using tan, taupe or sheer colors. Touch the skin with bronzer instead of pink or red blusher.

Edible glow: Skin is a fickle organ and it will tell all your food secrets. Improvements to the diet will show on your skin. I love the fried goodies but when I want supple skin, I steer clear. Try foods that contain lycopene like watermelon or tomatoes. For a beautiful epidermis, go for the flavonoid-loaded fruits like blueberries and grapes. And who has to be reminded to drink water? Hopefully not you, but water is key to nice skin.

Get close: If you want skin radiance, have sex. There is nothing like an orgasm to make skin glow and look fantastic. And it makes a good excuse to get close to the one you love!
