Supreme Court Grants Protection for Chidambaram in INX Media Case: The Supreme Court today granted the protection for former Union Minister P Chidambaram from being arrested by the CBI and ED in INX Media Case till August 26th. Chidambaram filed anticipatory bail against being arrested by CBI and ED in the Supreme Court and the apex court revealed their verdict today. As Chidambaram is under CBI custody, the top court did not intervene in the plea about the CBI. The plea about his protection will be heard on Monday said Supreme Court. The apex court bench comprising Justices R. Banumathi and A.S. Bopanna said that it will also hear Chidambaram's plea against the CBI remand on Monday.

Senior lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal took up the arguments for Chidambaram in the case. The Supreme Court heard the petition against CBI and then it was the senior lawyers who explained about Chidambaram's involvement. After several dramatic events, Chidambaram was arrested on Wednesday night and was taken to CBI headquarters in New Delhi. Both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate have registered separate cases linked to the INX Media case against Chidambaram.
