The hearing on the bail application of Ms. Kanimozhi, DMK MP and daughter of the former chief minister Karunanidhi, was today adjourned to May 30 by the Delhi High Court.
Kanimozhi, now cooling her heels in the Tihar jail amidst mosquitoes, will have to bear the mosquito bite till at least May 30 when her bail application comes up for hearing. She filed the bail petition in the Delhi High Court, along with Sharad Kumar, MD of the Kalaignar TV, after special CBI judge OP Saini rejected their bail pleas two days ago.
Kanimozhi lawyers argued today that there is no question of the witnesses in the 2G Spectrum case being influenced by her as she is an MP and abides by the laws of the land. While they prayed the court for accepting her bail plea, the CBI lawyers vehemently opposed the idea and requested the court not to accept the pleas.
After hearing the arguments by both sides, the court said the hearing is adjourned till May 30. Meanwhile, Karunanidhi visited his daughter Kanimozhi Monday evening along with his family members at the jail and consoled her for a while.
When Karunanidhi went back to his hotel, home Minister P. Chidambaram called on him and was with him for half an hour.
