Yoga guru Baba Ram dev announced today that he would go ahead with his proposed fast against corruption from June 4 and said the fast would continue till his demands are met.

 

Speaking at a yoga camp in Delhi, Ramdev said that corruption is the root cause for the ills being faced by the country and he was committed to contribute his might for ending corruption in the society.

 

After Baba Ram dev announced of his fast a few days ago, the government tried to placate him by announcing some measures on the issue of corruption. First, the government said it would appoint a high level committee to end the menace of black money. Secondly, it announced the launching of a study by the economists of the country to assess the extent of the illegal wealth stashed away in foreign banks. And finally, the government said it is ready to set up a Directorate of Criminal Investigation under the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

 

Despite the plethora of measures being announced by the government to tackle the menaces of corruption and black money, Ramdev has decided to go ahead with his fast saying these are not enough. The government is worried that after Anna Hazare, Ram Dev may precipitate matters for it on the issue of corruption and black money which have become major public concerns now.
