Anna Hazare to re-launch fast from Aug 16

anna1Hours after the Union Cabinet approved the government-prepared draft of the Lok Pal Bill, anti corruption crusader and veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare announced today that he would re-launch his indefinite fast on August 16 seeking a stronger Lok Pal Bill.

“The civil society is unhappy as the PM was not brought under the purview of the Bill. The country needs a stronger Lok Pal,” said Hazare soon after the news trickled in that the PM was left out of its jurisdiction.

Veteran lawyer Santhi Bhushan, who was also part of the anti-corruption movement being led by Anna Hazare, described the Cabinet approved Bill as a ‘snake without fangs’ and asked, “what is the use of such a Bill if it doesn’t cover the PM and other Ministers?” .

“The people of the country were simply fooled by the acceptance of such a toothless bill and we are feeling ashamed for this cowardice act,” said the constitutional expert.
