A fifty year old man believed to be having a bomb in his back pack threatens, with a girl hostage, at Parramatta legal office in suburban Sydney, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. The girl is in her teens.
Australian Police have evacuated the building and cordoned the area. Police with automated weapons rushed to the building and trained negotiators were on the job talking to him.
The girl holed up along with him is supposed to be his daughter and they have not had any thing since they went up. The room in which they are has a problem with the air conditioner and the man smashed open the window to allow in some fresh air. In the process hurt his hand badly.
It is said that the man along with the girl walked into the legal office and informed the reception that he was holding a bomb in the back pack and he wanted them to inform about the bomb to the Attorney General. Later he took the flight of stairs to the second floor, where he was spotted by the television men, while threatening about the bomb. The incident seems to be continuing since the last 10 hours.
The Police are not divulging on the details of the demands and about the negotiations. The man's brother was outside the building with police for a while before leaving in a police car. The man's daughter was said to be coping as well as she can be. As of now there seems to be no threat to her, in any manner.
