Litmus test for Congress scions, with Amethi all set to poll in the third phase. The battle lines are drawn and the ultimate challenging day will be today.
Uttar Pradesh already in polls has today started polling in Phase III of elections to the assembly. In the four cornered contests, the Mayawathi led Bahujan Samajwadi Party has a head on collision with the Congress led from the front by the Gandhi scions. So it’s time again to check whether the Hand slaps the elephant or the elephant crushes the hand. Political observers have aired not so positive signs for the UPA. May be this phase could turn the tables. As of today ten districts are polling for 56 constituencies of the state.
Out of the 1018 candidates fielded by various parties for areas which poll today, 77 are women. Nearly 1.77 Cr are going to exercise their franchise to ascertain who is going to rule UP tomorrow. The ten districts listed for this phase are Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar, Sultanpur, Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. Polling will be held amid tight security.
Most importantly three constituencies under the Amethi Parliamentary seat are set to declare the supremacy of the Congress scion Rahul Gandhi. The young leader along with Priyanka Gandhi Vodra, have extensively campaigned for the Congress. This would be a litmus test to the Gandhi’s.
