Another women’s university is likely to be set up in Andhra Pradesh soon. In order to improve the standards of higher education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been taking giant leaps. As a part of the same, UGC has granted as many as Rs. 1.84 lakh crores to Human Resources Development Ministry. In view of the same, the ministry of HRD has stated that 20 women universities, 14 world class universities, 374 model degree colleges and 1000 polytechnic colleges would be set up across the country. The best part is that AP is going to get another women university.
It is known that University for Women in Tirupati has been doing its best in delivering quality education, the newly proposed women university is surely going to encourage women and give broader prospects to them to enter into their field of choice. Addressing the media in Hyderabad, UGC member-professor, D N Reddy has stated that UGC would be ready to not only sanction women university but also a world class university in case the state government comes up with necessary proposals and initiatives. He has also said that 20 model degree colleges are also likely to come to existence in AP. Further he said, there are as many as 611 universities in the country and that UGC has been trying its best to increase the number to 1600.
