On Tuesday June 6, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife has filed her nomination papers for Kannauj by-polls.
After filing nominations, Dimple mentioned that, " As I am being a chief minister's wife, I am the best option to work for the people of this area.
It will be Dimple's second attempt to enter the Lok Sabha. She had contested the 2009 Firozabad by-election, but lost to Congress candidate Raj Babbar.
The Kannauj parliamentary constituency fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha on being sworn in as a member of the UP Legislative Council and after becoming the State's chief minister.
Kannauj is considered a safe seat for Dimple, as Akhilesh Yadav has represented it thrice.
