The junior doctors’ four-day-strike at five government hospitals in Tamil Nadu, was called off on Wednesday after they were assured of action against the lawyers who allegedly manhandled a duty doctor at a government hospital. The state health department, which made this promise, has even assured to providing extra security to the duty doctors at the hospitals.
The intense strike even resulted in the department to make it mandatory that not more than a single person be allowed to visit the patient in the intensive care unit (ICU), trauma care and post-operative ward. The department will also install barricades outside the trauma care in order to make doctors feel secured. The other actions include setting up CCTV cameras in emergency ward and trauma care.
The incidents of mob attacking the innocent duty doctors allegedly are nothing new. Such instances even hit the headlines in Hyderabad long ago. One should never take law into their hand. If someone feels that a particular doctor behaved negligently, he/she should seek the judicial help. (Phani)
