IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh cadre, V Sundaram Sampath took the charge as the Chief Election Commissioner on Monday. Sundaram Sampath belonged to 1973 IAS batch. He worked as a collector in AP besides working in several crucial departments in the state including co-operative bank, finance department and handloom marketing society to name a few.

He was high acclaimed for undertaking many reforms in petro chemical and electricity departments. Sundaram would continue as the Chief Election Commissioner till January 16, 2015. So, the prestigious Presidential election and general elections 2014 would be conducted under his supervision.
