Ramilaben 43 year old Govindbhai Patel is an uneducated Gujarati woman and yet she earns one crore rupees per annum which is at least 10 times higher than a well paid software engineer. But what is her profession? She milks cows and supplies it to dairy a co-operative company. Her earnings have reached an astounding Rs 1.10 crore after losing all the investment made.
Ramilaben owns a dairy farm at Pentarpura in Sabarkantha district which produces over 5.55 lakh litres of milk every day. In 2000, when the business started it was confied to the backyard of her modest house but now its has rose to be a opulent family business. She exemplifies the success of the White Revolution's impact on Amul.
In 2000 she loaned 5 cows after registering herself as a milk producer in the village. Today, her 'Jai Ranchod Dudh Utpadan Kendra' spreads over an expanse of 5 acres and provides shelter and food to 280 cattle and 40 workers in return for one crore rupees. She already owns 4 four automatic milking machines.
After her visit to Israel in 2011, Ramilaben and her husband have decided to set up a calf rearing farm, and a tabelaā€¯. The present farm has a 24 hour supply of water, cooling systems, fodder chaffing machines and the couple is planning on rotary units, a modernization that would allow the automatic milking of the cows apart from indicating the fat content costing about Rs 1 crore.
Today, Ramilaben is an inspirational figure in Gujarat especially to the women who play a prominent role in the diary industry.
