Oil tanker explosion: At least 100 killed in Nigeria

At least 100 persons were charred to death in an oil tanker explosion in Nigeria on Friday. The incident took place when the oil tanker lost its control, reportedly due to bad roads, and turned turtle near South Nigeria this morning. The locals, who were more than 100 in number, gathered at the oil tanker to collect the spilled oil. After a couple of minutes, the tanker exploded all of sudden reportedly killing more than 100 persons. The sources said that more than 25 people were seriously injured and were rushed to the nearby hospital.

Since the people were charred to death, the officials said that it was difficult to identify them. The mass burial of the deceased would take place today, said sources. The officials were of the opinion that the ghory incident would have not taken had locals not thronged the bunker to collect the spilled oil.
