On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi had voiced his intention to play a proactive role in the Congress clearing the increasing confusion in the party. The date on when he would have his active roles assigned would be disclosed by the President of Congress, Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Rahul Gandhi told the NDTV reporters that he would be playing a proactive role in the party and the decision of the timing would rest in the hands of the leaders. He also told that the option of the bigger role in the party and the government was open to him.

Only a day after Sonia said, "No one can take a decision on his behalf. He has to take a decision," Parliament House on Wednesday, Rahul had spoken to the media telling his decision to play an important role.

Rahul Gandhi was also asked by senior leaders in Congress like Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid to be proactive in party and the government, which could have played a major role in his decision.
