Samarth Police had received a complaint from a mother saying that her 26-days old baby had been snatched from her from two men who were not identified. But the story took a mysterious turn after interrogation that she had abandoned the child herself as she was not able to cope up with her treatment of blood septicaemia.
After becoming suspicious of the variances in the statement of the mother, the police had conducted investigations and found out that Muskan Shaikh (32) of Mominpura in Ghorpade Peth had espoused her own girl child less than a month old as her family could not afford the treatment for the illness. She instead to cover up for the espousal had approached the police and lodged a false complaint of kidnapping at the Samarth police station.
Later the mother had confessed with the police of her ignorant deeds and that she did so as she didn't want to kill her own child, Sadira. She told the police that she had left her near Dandekar bridge area.
The baby was not yet traced.
According to her previous allegation two people had snatched her baby near KEM hospital when she headed to the place after receiving a call. However, this was just a story she had created.
CCTV footage from the hospital revealed that Muskan had not gone into the hospital but merely walked along the wall of the hospital. When she was questioned regarding the suspicious action caught on camera, she had no choice but to confess her mistake.
