Mumbai rains continue for the second day

Mumbai rains had not relented for the second day in a row as they continue at full strength even on the second day resulting in halted traffic, snarls holding back cars bumper to bumper and also affecting the railways.

The fast paced city had to come to come to a deadlock after the suburban trains were badly hit with the waterlogged tracks in most parts of the city.

Harbour Line and Central Railway suburban trains had been delayed by at least 20-30 mins while a 15 minute delay was inevitable on Western Railway.

According to Mumbai news, a traffic signal near Kalyan, Thane had failed and this resulted in the CST, Kasara and Karjat of the Central Railways to be badly disrupted.

Low lying areas were completely waterlogged or even flooded in several areas of the city and the suburbs. Traffic proceeded only in tight snarls on the major roads in the city and the national highways in the peak hours of the morning.

The inclement weather in Mumbai has caused waterlogging in parts of Dahisar, Kandivli, Malad, Andheri, Santacruz, Bhandup, Sion, Byculla. Other areas like  Dadar, Worli, Goregaon and Kurla had witnessed deluges.

The met department had forecast the extreme weather conditions saying that most parts of the city could experience heavy to very heavy rains. In other parts of the state, majority of the Konkan districts, eastern districts of Vidarbha, northern parts of the state, Marathwada and Western Maharashtra there were good rains as to bring relief to the farming community which had been tormented with the lack of proper rains.
