Raj Thackeray, the MNS chief, on Thursday had made another statement exactly the opposite of his first views on the issue of the music reality show Sur-Kshetra. Earlier he had out-rightly objected Asha Bhonsale for allowing Pakistani singers in the show and promoting them. He had relented and given a green signal to the show which features singers from India and Pakistan, after a meeting with the show's producers in Mumbai today.
This show which is supposed to be aired on September 8th was earlier objected by Thackeray. He said Ashatai who is into music has not considered the political nuances but instead as a responsible citizen she should have done so. He also mentioned that she should understand the magnitude of cross-border terrorism which is tearing India apart. “There is no need for an artiste of the calibre and status of Ashatai to collaborate with Pakistani vocalists,'' he added.
He had also demanded the Pakistani artistes to publicly denounce their nation for its involvement in the violence in India. He asked them not to come only for the sake of money.
