Gadkari regrets the comment; RSS wants him to keep the sentiments of people in mind

The intense heat created around BJP president Nitin Gadkari over his remarks on Swami Vivekananda has finally made him to seek an unclear apology in form of "Regret". A defiant Gadkari said  "My personal reverence for Swami Vivekananda is second to none. In that context I had referred to Swami Vivekananda dedicating his intellect for the welfare of humanity. I am deeply pained to note that my words have been taken out of context to create confusion. I would like to reiterate that I never compared Swami Vivekananda with anyone. I had absolutely no intention of projecting Swami Vivekananda in a bad light. If my words about Swami Vivekananda have hurt the public sentiments in any manner, I express my sincere regrets."

Meanwhile the appointing boss of the BJP president , RSS has also issued a statement where they wanted Gadkari to be mindful of public sentiments. Clarifying the stand regarding the issue RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said people like Swami Vivekananda were respected across the world. "So when we talk about them ... we have to keep in mind sentiments of millions of people who are attached to them and we should be careful about that."

BJP president's statement is seen as an instrument to stabilize the unruly condition within the party and as a compromise to offer a temporary treaty with the rebels who want his resignation.
