Train POKIRIs attack Police ConstableThe railway police have increased security to curb boys from performing dangerous stunts in moving trains. Two youths allegedly beat a railway policeman with a belt when the latter pulled them up for performing stunts while standing on the footboard of a train, on Sunday evening at Mumbai.

Around 5pm, two Borivli Government Railway Police (GRP) constables, Uday Salgaonkar and D Suryavanshi, were travelling in the first class compartment of a Thane bound local train. After the train left Mulund station, they noticed Govandi residents Mohsin Mohalkar, 20, and Shah Rukh Khan, 19, hanging precariously from the train. The constables, dressed in civil clothes, asked them to stop. They told us to mind our business and they continued jumping around the compartment said Salgaonkar. The constables then showed their identity cards to the duo, but of no use.

When the train was approaching Ghatkopar station, suddenly one of the men removed his belt and started hitting me. I was shocked. Before we could react, they jumped off the train even as it was slowing. We chased them and managed to catch them outside the station with help of the volunteers of a Ganesh pandal outside Ghatkopar station, added Salgaonkar. The duo did not possess valid tickets.

They were handed over to the Kurla GRP, Shivaji Dhumal, senior inspector informed that they have been booked under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), and travelling without ticket.
