The Andhra Pradesh government Saturday decided to allot 1,000 acres of land to Prism Cement Limited for its cement plant in Kurnool district. The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy
Prism Cement Limited is an integrated Building Materials Company; with a wide range from cement, ready-mixed concrete, tiles, bath products to kitchens which has three Divisions, viz. Prism Cement, H & R Johnson (India), and RMC Readymix (India).
Information and Public Relations Minister D.K. Aruna told reporters that the cabinet decided to allot the land to the company at a cost of Rs.100,000 per acre. The Minister said the State Cabinet has approved a total investment outlay of nearly Rs 3,500 crore for the Rachachabanda II programme to be taken up during November 2-30. During the programme, it is proposed to spend about Rs 210 crore for ration cards, Rs 140 crore for pensions and Rs 3,150 crore for six lakh houses for the poor.
This essay of Rachachabanda is being observed as welfare month whose objective is to address people's local concerns by taking the administration to their doorstep.
The cabinet took the decision after officials briefed the ministers that the cement plant would help in the development of the region.
Prism Cement, one of the leading building materials company, plans to set up cement plant with a capacity of two million tonnes at Kothapadu and Kalvartha in Kurnool district at a cost of Rs.5 billion.
