Do you prefer the whiff of frying eggs or freshly mowed grass?
It seems certain aromas have the power to stir up strong emotions and even change our mood. A new study of 4000 people in the UK looked at the scents that appeal to us most. Researchers found freshly baked bread topped the list, followed by clean sheets and freshly mowed grass. Interestingly, while women claim certain smells put a smile on their face because they are homely or remind them of someone they love, men prefer exciting and invigorating aromas.
Still, 94% of men admitted that their home smelling nice was important, with nearly half using scent to help them relax.
According to Dr Pamela Dalton, the link between smell and memory is very strong. "Smell has the power to revive the past and transport us to a happy time or place, or remind us of a special person, evoking feelings of nostalgia and comfort."
In fact there can be a list of top smells that make us “HAPPY” such as:
Freshly baked bread
Freshly mowed grass
Freshly ground coffee
Fresh air after rainfall
They are indeed filled with emotions and energy to make our life much wonderful than ever!
