While many hailed the idea, a few of them even sent across their questions regarding career to Andhra Wishesh. Firstly, thank you all for welcoming the exclusive column.

In this episode, let us discuss in detail the prospects in film making. Many people, who get inspired by watching regular movies, often tend to create a pinch of fascination towards the commercial cinema, may be to see their name as director on big screen or may be to turn rich overnight. To all of them, what we could say is film making is not fun nor a good business nor a medium to entertain mass for sure. Film making is all about the way you communicate with the people at large with the moving images that you show through your eyes (lens).

If you have the zeal to drive home your ideas through subtle emotions with the help of lens, then you must not compromise on your dream to become a film maker. Film making is certainly a complex affair. It needs so much of patience and creativity in every inch. Right from writing a script to selecting the right actors and narrating them how they should deliver the job, a film maker's job doesn't end here. He should first of all work hard on screenplay and sometimes sit with the editor to make necessary alterations in the scenes. Once the post production job begins, it could be even more tougher coordinating with the bunch of creative people including video editors, musicians, sound engineers and so on. In case, you are game for it, then here are two simple steps to clinch the director's seat.

Make a short film:

Do work on your ideas, take out your handy cam and make a short film-with tight script-on whatever the issue it could be. Once you are ready with it, just drag in your friends who are seriously interested in acting and make a short film. Approach some noted directors-not the commercial ones again-and show them your short film. If they like it, they would surely make you their assistant director. And the journey would go on.

Approach a film institute:

Second best thing to do is-approach a film institute. You can either get enrolled for film making pg diploma course or even post graduate certificate course in screen writing from some film institute. In case you don't get through top film institute's interview, never get disappointed and think you have to put an end card to your dreams. Film institute is just like a starter course in your dinner. The main course is your zeal.

Here are some good film institutes that offer courses in film making:

Film and Television Institute of India, Pune:

This institute is run by the central government. Undoubtedly, it's one of the best institutes across the globe. It offers three years diploma course in film making besides other visual medium certificate courses.

Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata:

This is also run by ministry of information and technology. It offers post graduate diploma course in film making and television production.

Madras Film Institute:

Madras Film Institute or Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu is one of the top five film institutes in the country. There are many diploma courses related to film and television here.

These are top three film institutes but there are many universities such as University of Hyderabad (HCU), Jamia Milia Islamia University that offer M.A in Mass Communication. One can even get into these universities and become film makers.

So, if you have film making on your mind, don't let your dreams pushed to some corner in pursuit to go on par with white collar employees. Just believe in your instincts but again don't go blindly. Follow the process systematically and you will definitely come out with flying colours!
